I only watched the new one for Jon but really enjoyed it, unexpectedly. I think Chevy Chase is a buffoon. I watched the old one in the run-up to the new one and it was good but yeah it wouldn’t have worked with a nice guy.
Thanks, Melissa - Now that you mention it, I would definitely describe Chase's humour in general as buffoonish. That's a very apt description. That's probably also why the new movie didn't work that well for me - I was expecting more buffoonery.
