I think this film is probably overly hated in the Godzilla fandom, who generally consider it to be the worse Godzilla movie (tied with the 1998 version.)
Yeah, I do think it's near the bottom of the Godzilla filmography, but it's still pretty fun! And I try to keep the target audience in mind to avoid holding that against it. (Looking forward to reading your After Godzilla piece!)
I mean, I get why this movie is so criticized: half of it is stock footage from previous Godzilla films. That being said, I think I'd rather watch this again than Godzilla vs. Megalon.

That one's not great, but it does have much less Minilla in it!
Minilla (I seem to recall the spelling "Minya") can be annoying at times.
Who would win in a fight, Minilla or Godzilla's redesigned-to-be-cute son in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla?
