Danza's fine, but it's really interesting seeing Gandolfini just a couple years before his iconic role began. He's kinda subdued compared to Tony Soprano here, but you can see some connective tissue.
Looooong time since I saw this, but I remember it being pretty great, thanks to a stacked cast (and also Tony Danza). Friedkin directed the hell out of plays - it’s a pity he didn’t do more straight stage work (a lot of opera, but not many actual honest-to-God plays).
James Gandolfini and Tony Danza in the same movie? Sign me up!

Today’s Unclear and Present Danger podcast on The Devil’s Own had a five minute tangent on how good this remake of 12 Angry Men is.
There’s something in the air!
I saw that Bouie logged it (and really dug it)! I need to listen to that podcast.
lol he was on the latest Slate Political Gabfest and at the end they do a “cocktail chatter” and his was talking about how this adaptation rules 😂
He's mostly right! Glad to hear it's getting kinda rediscovered.

I didn't know Friedkin had a theatre/opera background like that, but I'm not surprised. He was one of a kind. A madman, but also a genius. 😂
