Reader, I hope you’re staying warm wherever you are this winter. It’s snowy here in Alabama, so anything can happen.
If you happen to be here in Birmingham with me, though, I hope you’ll join me at the Sidewalk Cinema this Thursday night at 8:00 when I host the January edition of VHS Time Machine! I know I mentioned this last month, but we didn’t have a time or date yet—and now we do! How about that.
As always, it’s free to attend, and we’ll be watching the film in pristine low-definition on a VHS tape. The feature presentation will be a mystery until showtime, but if you’d like a hint…the film I’ve selected may or may not star a certain bombastic actor who just celebrated his 60th birthday.*
Now that VHS Time Machine has found a permanent(?) home on Thursday nights, I’ll publish a newsletter about my chosen film on Friday morning like normal. I hope you enjoy it, and if you’ll be at Sidewalk with me and all my rowdy friends, I hope you enjoy the film as well!**
Speaking of Sidewalk: If you missed last week’s unannounced Tuesday post, don’t forget that I’m suiting up for the Bad Movie Marathon this weekend! Chances are I’ll be binge-watching at least a dozen wretched films in a row, and I could sure use those donations to keep my sanity (and to keep Sidewalk’s doors open).
That’s all for now. Thanks for bearing with this recent slew of mid-week event-specific updates! Stay bundled up.
*This isn’t much of a hint, but my pal Derek gave this film 5 stars and said “This is Italian-American” in his Letterboxd review. So there’s that.
**VHS Time Machine is right after Networking Night at Sidewalk, so if you’re going to hobnob with local filmmakers, stay for a free screening and get some extra inspiration!
Figured it out 😎👍🏼
