But for the encore it is ends with a jaunty singalong version of “leaning on the everlasting arms”, which was really jarring for me having only encountered that song in this film.
This film was one of the greatest Netflix DVD discoveries for me. Thank you for this essay.
Last time I watched The Night of the Hunter, I heard that song somewhere else like *days* later. Can't remember exactly, but it might've been The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. 😂
