A Quick Update on Myself, My Heart, and This Newsletter
This still is from the 2004 film Something The Lord Made, which is a true story and a very good film about two doctors who made a huge breakthrough in the heart surgery world. (It’s on HBO Max if you’d like to see it.)
Hello everyone. Jeremy here.
Many of you who subscribe to this newsletter are people that I interact with pretty often—texting about movies and sports and things, bickering on Twitter, acknowledging each other’s existence on Facebook.
But many of you are not. Which is cool, because we don’t all have to talk to each other all the time. And if we don’t talk to each other all the time, you might have been wondering why this weekly newsletter hasn’t been posted in a couple weeks. (Especially if you’ve been paying for it!)
Well, two weeks ago, what I thought was a pretty basic illness turned out to be a major issue that required immediate heart surgery. (You can read more about it here, if you’d like.) I was in the hospital for a long while—until this past Friday, in fact.
As you can imagine, this newsletter wasn’t top-of-mind for me as I was prepping for and recovering from surgery. So that’s why you haven’t had anything land in your inbox for a couple weeks. I’m sure you understand.
However! I am smart, and I wrote some of these newsletter issues in advance, which means I have a few that are ready to go while I’m still getting my mind and body back to normal.
So yes, you’ll get a new issue this Friday morning. In fact, this week’s issue is my favorite one yet. (My editor also said it’s his favorite, right before telling me that I should do “more research” for these newsletters, which is “not going to happen,” John.) It’s about baseball, even though it’s not really about a baseball movie. I hope you like it.
Thank you again for your patience, especially if you’re a paid subscriber. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon and stay that way.
