Hello reader! I’m hopping into your inbox twice this week because it’s promotin’ time. (It kinda always feels like promotin’ time for me, but especially right now.)
If you’ve been subscribed to this newsletter since last summer, you might know that I recently wrote and co-produced a feature film with many dear friends and collaborators. It’s called Don’t Die, and it’s a Southern crime thriller starring some actors that you might recognize if you love indie film.
We had our world premiere at the Sidewalk Film Festival in August.* Since then, we’ve been working on some things behind the scenes while playing a few other film festivals, including the Oxford Film Festival most recently. But unless you live in or near the cities where we’ve screened—and many of you do not—you haven’t had an opportunity to see the film yet. (If you feel inclined to do so. And I hope that you do.)
But that will all change next week when we have our virtual premiere at the amazing Panic Fest! From 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7th to 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14th, you’ll be able to watch Don’t Die (and dozens of other great films) from anywhere in the U.S. Pretty neat, right?**
Here’s how it works. You can now buy individual tickets, which you can use to queue up our film at any point during the week-long streaming window. (Or you could buy a virtual badge if you want to check out the festival’s entire digital catalog.) Once you press play, you’ll have 48 hours to finish the film; naturally, we hope you watch it all in one sitting (it’s only 80 minutes!), but we know that things happen.
After you finish the film, it would be wonderful if you rated it and even reviewed it on Letterboxd or IMDb. Every little bit of positive press helps us get the film in front of new viewers, especially knowing that Panic Fest viewers have lots of other options to choose from.
There are lots of ways you could spend an hour and a half these days, but it would mean a lot to me and the whole team if you spent that time next week watching a film that’s been years in the making. We really put our hearts and backs into this one, and we hope that shows.
Thank you for tuning in and taking the ride with us!
*Many thanks once again to all of you who showed up and helped us win an audience award. We are forever in your debt.
**Also neat: Fangoria got the exclusive for the Panic Fest lineup announcement. Quite an honor to have our film mentioned in the digital pages of one of the biggest film publications in the world.
Congrats on the movie! Is there a trailer for it yet?
